Project Overview In this project, you will create a book cover design for a dystopian novel. The goal is to create a visually compelling design that captures the tone and themes of the book. While it is advised not to judge a book by its cover, the truth is that a book with a sloppy design won’t sell very well. It is always best to aim for a cover design that is stylish and captures the essence of the book.

TASKS
1. RESEARCH
1a. What is your understanding of the genre of dystopian literature?
– Include examples of well-known dystopian novels
– What are the common themes, motifs, and visual elements found in dystopian literature, such as oppression, surveillance, rebellion, and dystopian landscapes.
– Read a dystopian novel to gain inspiration for their designs.
2 – SKETCHING
Sketch out your initial ideas for their book cover design
– Explore different compositions, color schemes, typography, and imagery that reflect the themes and tone of the book.
– Consider what images and symbols will evoke the mood of the story.
Create your book cover inspired by your research
2. DESIGN
Once you have your sketches, move on to creating the actual book cover design.
– 6×9 inch size
– Experiment with different layouts, textures, and colors to create a unique and visually compelling design.
– Choose an appropriate font that matches the theme and tone of the book.
4. MIDWAY REVIEW
– Export and upload your design
– www/ebi (consider the choice of images, layout, typography, balance, colour)
– How will you improve your design?
5. FINAL OUTCOME
Once the designs are complete, export to your website.
Create a digital mockup of the book cover (see guide)
6. EVALUATION
– Explain your design choices, discuss how you incorporated elements from the book, and describe how your design captures the tone and themes of the story.
– Include insight into composition, typography, and imagery.
– Reflect on the process and their designs. Share what they learned, what challenges you faced, and what you would do differently in the future.
